Kaji

Posted in Pets on November 17th, 2006

I lost my baby today.

Kaji had been diagnosed with Chronic Renal Failure back in like March. Every other day I gave him SubQ fluids, he was on a special diet and took supplements to control his phosphorus and nausea.

He was doing fine up until about three weeks ago. We believe he developed heart problems and over the course of about the last three days also developed fluid in his lungs.

This morining he was breathing rapidly, refused food and seemed weak, so I took him to the vet. The vet spent two hours working on him and it looked like he had stabilized.

But the fluid was too much for my baby. He couldn’t breathe and was gasping for air. The vet worked on him, giving him an oxygen tube and injections while I held his head and told him I loved him.

Finally it was just too much. His pupils had fixed and dilated and he wasn’t responding to the injections.

I made the decision to say goodbye.

I held him and told him I loved him and it was time to go to sleep and that I would see him again soon as the vet did the injection. I hope he was aware enough to hear me and feel my love.

I don’t know if Busey sensed something, but this morning before we left for the vet he kept saying “Hi Kitty. Hi Kitty.” and that’s not something he says a whole hell of a lot.

He was my baby boy – raised from two days old. For those of you who knew him, you know how special he is to me.

It hurts so bad right now, but I know time will bring healing.

Here are two pictures of my baby – his first picture at about 4 weeks old and his last picture taken two weeks ago.

“I crap bigger’n you”

February 18, 1919 – November 10, 2006

In other news, as part of our morning meeting today, we were required to watch the new Spiderman 3 trailer.
I love my job.

TCB with LMP

Okay, so my boss took me to see LMP tonight.

I’ve heard her music and it’s pretty good – kinda modern rock n’ roll-ish – and I really love her voice, so I was all excited to go. Boss actually pulled some strings and got us second table from stage tickets in the tiny showroom type venue.

But I realized, as the concert date got closer, that I wasn’t really going to see her. I was going because it was the closest thing I would ever get to seeing Elvis. She looks so much like him, and you can sometimes hear him in her voice. And those eyes. Elvis’ eyes in a girl.

I was surprised at how stocky she was when she came out and kinda disappointed. She wore a plaid schoolgirl skirt with leggings and combat boots and a black pullover and had NO boobies. I dunno – maybe I was expecting a gold lame jumpsuit?

Then she started singing. She moves her mouth like her daddy when she sings. :)
At one point she asked for the house lights to be turned up so she could see who she was singing to – just like her daddy.
And those eyes.

But her voice was unique and carried itself without overprocessing. You could hear some Elvis in it here and there.
Her band was good and the songs were good. It was a good show.

Oh, and ‘Scilla was there. Yep. Two for one. She made “momma” stand up and wave and I realized that my hand was kinda waving at ‘Scilla on its own. Weird. But, another piece of Elvis that I got to grasp.
That woman has got to lay off the plastic surgery, though. She looked like a pale white child with HUGE lips in the balcony.

So… the closest I’ll ever get to Elvis.

His bashit crazy scientologist daughter.

Not disappointed.

But still need to do Graceland.
